The use of flash can enable you to get quality results in a much wider variety of lighting conditions and can also allow you to capture images that are simply not possible without flash. In spite of this, it remains one of the least understood tools available to the photographer.

The goal of this class is to teach you several of the key underlying concepts that are critical to understanding how to use flash effectively. Topics will include the inverse square law, camera sync speed, front vs. rear sync, high-speed sync, the relationship between flash & ambient exposure, flash zoom, manual vs. automatic flash, and flash exposure compensation.

This presentation will go beyond a simple cookbook approach and give you the background knowledge you need to better understand color management and how to properly apply it in your post-processing workflow.

After introducing some basic color terminology, we will discuss why color management is needed and the role played by color profiles and their relationship to color models and color spaces. You will walk away with a better understanding of how to achieve consistent color across monitors, printers, projectors, and electronic devices.

After introducing some basic color terminology, we will discuss how the photographer can influence the rendering of colors in an image via the choice of Picture Style, Camera Profiles, RAW conversion software, and White Balance.
